Hello, this is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday October 9. If you have anything to add call

An INDIGO BUNTING was among a swarm of migrants at Fields October 4. Two
JUNIPER TITMICE were reported from Tigard October 5, but did not remain
for verification.

A RED PHALAROPE was with a large flock of RED-NECKED PHALAROPES on the
North Spit of Coos Bay October 8. Three RED PHALAROPES and a RED-NECKED
were at the South Jetty of the Columbia River October 5. A number of
BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES, SABINE'S GULLS, and individual POMARINE,
PARASITIC, and LONG-TAILED JAEGERS have been seen off the jetty all week.

Up to 50 LAPLAND LONGSPURS were on the South Jetty Shorebird Flats
October 5. A PALM WARBLER and four MARBLED GODWITS were at the Necanicum
River mouth in Seaside during the week.

Six LAPLAND LONGSPURS, a MARBLED GODWIT, two PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS, and
a late CASPIAN TERN were on the Bayocean Shorebird Flats at Tillamook Bay
October 5. That day an AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER was on the plowed field
behind the Tillamook Fred Meyer store. A possible LARK SPARROW was in
Nehalem Meadows at the television antenna store October 5.

Good TURKEY VULTURE movements were reported over the Willamette Valley
during the week. VARIED THRUSHES are now moving into the western Oregon
lowlands. Good sized flocks of WHITE-FRONTED GEESE are still being
reported. The first main flight of CACKLING CANADA GEESE arrived on
Sauvie Island during the week.

A female SURF SCOTER was on McGuire Reservoir in the Yamhill County Coast
Range October 5. A SABINE'S GULL was on the Sheridan Sewage Ponds that
day. Two SABINE'S Gulls were there October 7. The next day six SURF
SCOTERS, 10 HORNED GREBES and four WESTERN GREBES were there with the
SABINE'S.

On October 3 a SURF SCOTER, a female RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, and an EARED
GREBE were on the Forest Grove Ponds. An evening roost of about 8000
STARLINGS, RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS, and BREWER'S BLACKBIRDS were in the
cattails that day. Three WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS and five GREATER SCAUP were
at the Forest Grove Ponds October 4.

Over 50 GREAT EGRETS are now at Fern Ridge Reservoir near Eugene. Two
WILSON'S PHALAROPES and 55 WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were at the Prineville
Sewage Ponds October 5.

Among the many migrants at Fields October 6 were a RED-BREASTED
SAPSUCKER, a black backed LESSER GOLDFINCH, a WINTER WREN, and an
AMERICAN REDSTART.
