Hi Tweets,

I barely got outside, and noticed the first Winter Wren in some ivy on
the ground. Unusual place, in front of the busy campus library. In a
patch of 5x5metres, 4 Winter Wrens were scurrying around. The 'Birds of
B.C.' mentions that the southbound migration of Winter Wrens is masked
around Vancouver by the local population; still, odd place, odd number.

Numbers for a 1h walk down to the museum of Anthropology (16.30 to 17.30)
Surf Scoter 50-70
Glaucous-winged Gull +
Black-capped Chickadee +
Winter Wren 5!
Golden-crowned Kinglet ++
Hermit Thrush 1
Am. Robin +
Rufous-sided Towhee 3
Song Sparrow +
Dark-eyed Junco ++
House Finch 5
+ = several; ++ = many
