.............Skip Gdlaubach and I went to Ridgefield Nat'l Wildlife
Refuge Sunday morn. to bird watch. He had to leave around noon, but I
hung around and hiked about to about 3:00 p.m., so the following bird
list contains additional sightings that he didn't observe. The weather
was cloudy with a bit of drizzle, and....a good rain shower early in the
afternoon. But not really cold.

Red-winged Blackbirds
Belted Kingfisher(1)
Widgeons
Kestrel
Immature Harrier hawks
Mature Harrier-hawks
Red-tailed hawks
Song Sparrows
Tree Swallows
Barn Swallows
Canada Geese(migrants finally arrived!!!!!)
.....2 very large flocks on ground observed, plus numerous flocks in the
air. The flocks on the ground were mostly browner Duskies, with many
smaller grey geese mixed in( Lesser Canadas????
Sandhill Cranes(numerous)
Northern Flickers( 4 at very close range!!!
Northern Shovelers (all females)
Lesser Scaup(8)
Ruddy Ducks(in winter plummage)
Black-capped Chickadee(1)
Golden-crowned Sparrows(3)
Dark-eyed Juncos
Pied-billed Grebes
Rufous-sided Towhee(1)
Immature Bald Eagle(1)
Marsh Wren
Am. Coots(zillions!!!!)
House Finch

..........A Pileated Woodpecker was reported observed, but since we
didn't see it, it was not put on the list.
..........Every-other day duck and goose hunting seemed to have chased
many ducks away, as relatively few were seen.
