Tweets,
Birded Nisqually today, and while the afternoon was quite the morning was
full of suprises. Here it goes:
At the parking lot at 7:45 am a Hermit thrush (seems early ?)
Next we had a tree swallow at the twin barns, then a Ruffed Grouse on the
East dike trail sitting in branches in the riparian area, first for
nisqually for me! Next speaking of cackling geese there were between 60-70
Cackling Geese among the standard Canadians. Next we had a Cliff Swallow
fly over on the Ring-dike trail (seems extremely late???). The other
notable goose for the day was a flock of 31 Greater-whitefronted Geese. On
the ring dike trail there was a bittern. Oh and as an afterthought, near
where the ruffed grouse was a hybrid flicker (red shafted x
yellow-shafted). Will try to get out and see remnants of the storm-petrel
invasion tomorrow.
