Just returned from Reifel (Sunday) and the flock of about 10,000 Snow Geese
really put on a show for my cousin visiting from South Africa. None to be
seen in the fields when we entered but shortly after they started to fly in
and were right by the road when we left.

While we were there, my daughter, almost four, was suprised by a
non-chickadee arriving on her hand to take sunflower seeds. She still
amazes me when she notices differences between the species. We were
followed for about 400 yards by two Red-breasted Nuthatches that seemed
more comfortable feeding from her hand than did the Black-capped
Chickadees. Interestingly enough, the nuthatches appeared to be easily
chased off by the chickadees.

And, a late sighting at Maplewood Flats on Friday afternoon was an Osprey.
