Another absolutely gorgeous autumn morning. A friend, Jim Lawrence and I,
birded all morning from Johnsons Landing up to Meadow Creek. The highlight
of the day was a pair of Lapland Longspurs which Jim had first spotted
yesterday. We were also happy to see a Mourning Dove and a Common Snipe.
Altogether to saw 38 species; not bad for a fall day.
The American Wigeons are about in ever increasing numbers, as are the
Mallards and Green-winged Teal. One Wood Duck was hanging out with them. We
were pleased to seen the common, but oh so lovable, Pine Siskins; they
haven't been seen since last August.
