Charles Swift reports a GREAT GRAY OWL near Cottonwood, Idaho
Co., ID on Sunday, October 5. From US 95, follow the signs for the
Cottonwood Butte Ski Area. About 0.5 mile beyond the North Idaho
Correctional Institute look for the grassy/weedy area by the
powerlines. This is where the bird was hunting. ID DeLorme 54, B-3.

At Mann Lake, near Lewiston, Nez Perce Co., ID on Saturday, October
4, Dan and Ila Svingen saw 1 DUNLIN, 7 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS,
and 4 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE. To get to Mann Lake,
follow US 12 into Lewiston, cross the Clearwater River, and at the
traffic light just south of the bridge, head up hill on 21st
Street. Follow it up hill as 21st Street becomes Thain near the
Wal-Mart. Follow Thain and as it goes from 4 lanes to 2, and curves
right, turn left onto Powers Avenue. Follow Powers Avenue about 5
miles to the reservoir. ID DeLorme 54, A-1.

John and Marty Hirth spied a FRANKLIN'S GULL on the St. Maries,
Benewah Co., ID sewage ponds last Sunday, October 5, and an
immature MEW GULL on the beach just west of the Coeur d'Alene
Resort in Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai Co., ID. The St. Maries sewage
ponds are about one mile north of St. Maries along ID 3. ID DeLorme

Dan Svingen reports a MERLIN was near the grain towers in
Grangeville, Idaho Co., ID on Tuesday but has not been seen again. ID
