Hi folks,

I'm sure that this isn't a record late date or anything, but I mist-netted and banded a Hatching-Year, unknown gender, Swainson's Thrush yesterday morning (Columbus Day). This is the latest date for this species in my banding records. Jewett et al. list a record for Shelton of October 3, 1940.

Kind of a 'farewell to summer' for those of us destined to spend our winters in the gray of Western Washington, rather than among the shade-trees of the environmentally-correct coffee plantations of Guatemala.....
