Deer are serious swimmers. I've seen them swim across the Nisqually Reach
from the Tolmie State Park area to Anderson Island; once I saw a doe and a
fawn swim across Padilla Bay from Bayview to Guemes Island, a straight-line
distance of nearly five miles. Not a big fawn either. I was impressed!

How far is Protection Island from the mainland?
