Eight birders visited Spencer Is. today, Tues., on our monthly trip there.
Weather was pleasant in high 50's. We were there from 1000 to 1340 and had
46 species. On the walk to Spencer, we always stop and look thru the fence
at the large pond. We didn't spot the Common Black-headed Gull, but did get
a good look at the 1st winter Franklin's Gull. Other sightings of interest
were:
1 Horned Grebe
2 Western Grebe - 1st since Jan.
4 Green-winged Teal
11 No. Pintail - 1st since April
Thousands of No. Shoveler
2 Bufflehead - 1st since May
2 Common Merganser - 1st since April
4 Ruddy Duck - 1st since april
1 Sora (heard)
30 Long-billed Dowitcher
1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 1st since Mar.
7 Yellow-rumped Warbler
3 Fox Sparrow
1 Golden-crowned Sparrow - 1st this year
8 Dark-eyed Junco - 1st since Mar.
3 American Goldfinch
