Subject: Protection Island deer

Deer have been present on Protection Island since at least 1983, and most likely much longer. I spent the summers of '83-85 on PI doing research, and deer were quite visible. I still visit every summer, and the deer are always present.

When PI became a NWR there was talk of getting rid of them. but I guess nobody could bring themselves to shooting Bambi.
