Here's a puzzler-- can someone suggest what these birds were:

Yesterday a flight of geese(?) came over, in South Everett (near Puget
Sound) heading south-southwest at dusk. They appeared to be geese, but the
honks were more musical, quieter. I have only seen the Canadian geese here,
or snow geese in certain places, and a pair of different ones last weekend
that were a more uniform brown about the head. This flight had more than a
hundred birds in it, in a big bowing line, with only a few out of formation.

What were these, do you think?
