Sachiko:

What a delight to read your post on tweeters.

I read your question on the RBSA. I too was curious as to the
date of its sighting. Two years ago when you were in fourth grade the class
took a walk into the Ardmore greenbelt and we saw a RBSA. This was during
a cold snap in Nov or Dec. Do you remember this? It only stayed a few days.
The post from Gene Hunn about the cold up North and that this bird is a
migrant and not a resident may be true. RBSA are residents to the local
forests.

We are starting our formal study of ornithology this week
with the class. The kids have been observing in the creek already this
year. We saw a merlin fly toward the creek two days last week. Our first
bird trip may be to Spencer Island near the Everett Sewage Ponds off I-5.
A nice place to take a walk also. I believe you went there last year
with a group? Take care.
