Recently, a number of folks have been perplexed about
how to subscribe or to unsubscribe.

A long-time subscriber myself, I often forget the procedures.
But fortunately--for those who have browsers, anyway--the
rules are graven in electronic stone at the Tweeters web site--
<http://weber.u.washington.edu/~dvictor>
under the rubric "How to subscribe."

And here, directly from the web pages, are Dan Victor's
------- instructions:--------------------------------------------------

To subscribe send the following message text to:

listproc at u.washington.edu

sub tweeters John Doe

where you replace John Doe with your name

Do not enter your email address. The listprocessor will read where the
message is coming from to obtain your email address.

To unsubscribe merely send the following text to:
listproc at u.washington.edu

uns tweeters

Do NOT enter your name when unsubscribing. This would cause your
command to fail.

To post messages to tweeters send them to:

tweeters at u.washington.edu

Please SIGN your messages within the text of the
message giving your name, geographic location, and email address.
Several email programs strip the headers so that one can not tell where
the message is coming from. Also, it is interesting to see the geographic
areas from which messages are posted. Your emailer may have a signature
feature you could use or perhaps you could import a signature file at the
end of your message.

Examples:

Dan Victor, Seattle, WA (dvictor at u.washington.edu)

or perhaps:

Dan Victor
Seattle, WA
dvictor at u.washington.edu

[Dan goes on to explain the various mail options.]
