hello tweeters,
I will take the opportunity, since no one report on this cruise, with peter
badam from the port townsend marine science center. the reaoni went on this
cruise to maybe, see the BROWN-BOOBY,which got sighted on saturday, october
18,
this trip was planted for a cruise around PRTECTION ISLAND,also smith
island.
Ispend two hours prior to my cruise onDIAMOND POINT looking for the
BROWN-BOOBY,to no avail.
we try to make a great blue herron in to ONE.cause, the visibility was poor
at that time, also the bird in question showed only his back.
theboat trip started at 1-00pm in the afternoon and lasted to4:00pm i
noticed, the very few birds we saw around protection island on the beach,
which had the BROWN-BOOBY the week before.no booby.
the highlight of the trip was a YELLOW-BILLED LOON in almost full breeding
plumage, this bird had a complete bright straw yellow bill.i seen
YELLOW-BILLED LOONS before. but never one in this plumage, hopeful my
photos are good enough.
we saw manny alcides and grebes, manny malesOLDSQUAWS,
on smith island we had large amount of BLACK-OYSTERCATCHERS-SANDERLINGS
AND DUNLINS.
I recomend this boat andthe crew highly, because it has plenty room to sit
insidethe cabin.plenty storage place, enough room ondeck if you like to go
outside.what is so impressive, the boat has a guide, which keep you informed
what been sighted, this is done over the loud-speaker,so everybody is
informed what is going on.
the last trip for this year is in november 360-385-5582
