Tweets,
Just wanted to drop a line about the success that we had at West Pt. this
afternoon. I will start with lesser highlights and get to the really neat
stuff later. There were large scoter flocks on the south bluff at
Discovery, and in these flocks we had 23 Black Scoters. A fair number of
Heermanns Gulls were still hanging around at West Pt. (7 to be exact),
these were chased briefly by a dark morph Parasitic Jaeger. Now the really
good sightings was a winter plumaged Little Gull, in among 260-280
Bonapartes that were feeding in a rip tide area off the point today. The
other decent sightings was that the winds boosted hawk watching. We had 9
Red-tails and a Sharpie soaring over the south bluff. There were also
several toy gliders up near the hawks, and when one glider was directed by
its owner to near to the red-tail, the bird attacked the glider from
above, pushing the glider down and forcing it out of the air space. Good
job!
