I got back to doing my census route after 9 days on the Oregon coast. Today
was cold and windy.
The "regular" waterfowl numbers have jumped in the last 2 weeks: Mallards,
American Wigeons, American Coots all up. There were still southward bound
Canada Geese(2 flocks).
The unusual sighting of the day was a juvenile Canvasback---a "rare bird" in
the West Kootenays.
We also spotted 4 American Dippers in one short stretch of the Lardeau
River.
