These ponds have been one of the hottest birding spots in metro Portland
this fall (scoters, grebes, Red-shouldered Hawk, etc). There are all
sorts of new trails and great access. If you go
to these ponds, go all the way into Forest Grove to Pacific University and
look for the Acorn Woodpeckers there. Closer to Hillsboro, the Jackson
Bottoms area is nice as well, and driving on the back roads between
Jackson Bottoms and the Forest Grove ponds work very well (use a DeLorme
or a good map of metro Portland).
