This morning I sighted what I believe to be a peregrine falcon hovering over
the cliff above the railroad tracks just north of downtown Bellingham. The
only troubling aspect of the bird is that the feathers on the rump were
distinctly lighter than the others. The feathers there are barred and a dirty
white. Is this unusual/nonexistent in a peregrine? The bird was otherwise
quite dark overall, with a distinct hood, and dark wing tips.
