Joyce Meyer and I walked the greenbelt for two hours on Tues. and recorded 32
species. On Phantom L. there were over 100 each of American Wigeon, American
Coot and Ring-necked Ducks, with a few Lesser Scaup, 14 Hooded Merganser and
the first Western Grebe since April. On the trail to Larsen L. and the
boardwalk west of 148th St. we had four Common Snipe, one Red-tailed Hawk,
one Cooper's Hawk, nine Ruby-crowned Kinglet, four Fox Sparrow, 15
Golden-crowned Sparrow as the more interesting of the sightings. Also one
Bufflehead on Larsen Lake as well as American Coot, Pied-billed Grebe and
Mallard.
