rick, if you want to study gulls particular thayer's gulls come to
tacoma.before i found the RARE SLATY-BACKED GULL on the new year day of
1994 i din't ever looked at gulls verry much. i always dependet on my son
to identify gulls for me.but here i was all alone no birdbook ore scope. i
knew i had somthing RARE but what. so i made scetches and
field-notes.after i looked at my fieldguides and looking at a photo which
patrick got from BC i knew what it was all the BIG BIRDERS din't think i
could find such rare bird. at that time patrick was on three differrent
christmas-birdcount. so when patrick mention that there is a SLATY-BACKED
GULL in tacoma at the GOG-LE-HI-TE nobody believed of such bird sighting.
the rest is history.but it was than,i became interested in gulls.
at theGOG-LE-HI-TE there always attract 100 of thayers gulls where on can
study theme.there also is a place in bremington call ghorst where large
flocks of gulls concentrate. the only advise i can give,is not complicated
as some people like to make it,you must realy go afterit and dont give up.
