Thanks. That's a great summation with a lot I didn't know, some that I
once knew and some I know even now. I will treasure it.
For novice gull watchers: I think it was Jon Dunn who gave the advice.
Learn the adults first then the first years and then worry about the in
beweens mostly by association for there aren't many of them. That is, there
are a lot of adults because gulls live a long time. There are a lot of
juveniles and first years because gulls are so prolific. But there aren't many
second or third years because attrition is so severe if you are an adolescent
gull. I think it is excellent advice.
