To Irene Wanner (no e-mail address?)

Turkey vultures are not usually a winter bird in the Pacific Northwest. If
they do show up or stay, it's a rarity. Last year four overwintered on
Vancouver Island, but I never did hear how much past the first of the year.
They start slowly reappearing in mid-to-late February, but the majority
arrive in April and depart in late September-early October. If I were you,
I think I would move the story location a little further south if you want
vultures to be a part of the plot.
