The Green Lake Park Alliance (volunteers for Green Lake Park) is proud to
offer another winter-season of bird walks at the lake.
Every first and third Saturday of the month, November 1997 through April 1998.
To spell it out:
November 1 (oops, that's tomorrow) & 15
December 6 & 20
January 3 & 17
February 7 & 21
March 7 & 21
April 4 & 18
RAIN OR SHINE.
Participation is free; limited to the first 15 people who show up.
Starts at 8 AM at east beach life guard chairs (near Community Center).
Over by about 10 AM (or whenever you have to leave).
Usually between 35 to 40 species of birds are seen. Water fowl as well as a
nice selection of gulls. Nothing is shunned! The trees are searched for a nice
selection of song birds, woodpeckers and we'll keep an eye out for raptors as
well.
Upon request the lake's history and ecology will be discussed. Especially the
water quality "issue." Bird behavior is an important part of the programs
especially duck displays during pair formation (in full swing for the Gadwalls
right now).
