The Lower Columbia Birders Association
Fall Outings Schedule for 1997

The LCBA is an informal group of birders from around the Columbia
Estuary who like to get together on the first Saturday of each
month and look for birds. We meet at 0800hr in front of the
Columbia Maritime Museum in Astoria. The following schedule is
subject to change based upon weather, what's currently around and
the capricious nature of the membership.

September 6-
Ft. Stevens State Park: passerines along the the bike path,
shorebirds on Trestle Bay and seabirds at the south jetty.
Likely species include: migrant warblers and flycatchers,
American Golden-plover, Elegant Tern, Parasitic Jaeger,
Sooty Shearwater.

October 4-
Ft. Stevens State Park: passerines along the the bike path,
shorebirds on Trestle Bay and seabirds at the south jetty.
Likely species include: Palm Warbler and sparrows,
Pectoral Sandpiper, golden-plovers, Lapland Longspur,
Parasitic Jaeger, Sooty Shearwater.

November 1-
Ecola State Park and Cannon Beach Sewage Ponds: Seabirds at
Ecola Point and ducks at the sewage Ponds. Likely species
include: Harlequin Duck, shearwaters, loons and grebes.

December 6-
Lewis Unit of Willapa NWR and the Chinook Valley, Washington
A nice walk of about 2 miles through the wetlands and shrubby
upland. Likely species include: Lincoln's Sparrow and other
sparrows, Virginia Rail, Trumpeter Swan, ducks, hawks.
