the South Jetty of the Columbia River, Clatsop Co., OR

Method: One hour (timed) station count 100m west of "3 rocks" on
top of SJCR using 20x60 Bushnell spotting scope and 8x50 Bushnell
binoculars. Birds were sorted as to flyby, sitting on beach, sitting
on ocean or sitting on river.

Notes: There was an east wind this morning which generally makes for
mediocre seawatching. The SOOTY SHEARWATER migration appears to be at its
peak. A single flock of ARCTIC TERNS came by heading north at about 0845.
A huge flock of RED-NECKED PHALAROPES was working the foam along the
ocean side of the jetty. BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES are now easily seen.
