Diane de Ryss wants advice on devices to eliminate cat predation:

There's a gadget which works on an infrared sensor to turn on a garden hose
and spray the area with water. I've forgotten what it's called; but the
price is about $100. Since an infrared sensor is less than $10 and an
electrically operated water valve is less, I intend to install this as a
permanent feature in my back yard watering system. When it's done I suspect
there'll be no more cats near my bird feeders.

The problem is it works equally well on humans so you need to remember to
turn it off before entering the area.
