This is Dale Goble with the northern Idaho / eastern Washington /
northeastern Oregon bird hotline.

John and Marty Hirth saw 8 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS and good
numbers of all 4 species of chickadees: BOREAL, CHESTNUT-BACKED,
BLACK-CAPPED, and MOUNTAIN CHICKADEES on Cow Creek near
Smith Creek in northern Boundary County on Saturday, September 6th.

They also saw a COMMON LOON and 2 RED-NECKED GREBES on
Coeur d'Alene Lake on Gotham Bay.

On Sunday they found a LINCOLN SPARROW on Parvin Road, south of
Kamiak Butte north of Pullman.

ON Saturday, Richard Barth of Los Angeles reports finding a
PHILADELPHIA VIREO at Turnbull NWR.

On Saturday on Grandmother Mountain east of Clarkia, I found some
more predictable species including good number of PINE GROSBEAKS
and TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES. ID DeLorme p59 A4.

On Friday Kas and Dan Svingen visited Mann Lake east of Lewiston as
Kas was heading for points east and a well-deserved vacation. They
found 1 LEAST SANDPIPER, 3-4 WESTERNS SANDPIPERS, 1 LONG-
BILLED DOWITCHER, 2 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES, and a remarkable
4 SANDERLINGS.
