For years I had major problems with seasickness during almost any
boating experience, despite trying all the usual drugs; I once even had
to be flown out of the Pribilofs, after losing 16lbs. in 10 days of
being aboard a research vessel.
In 1984 I inadvertently stumbled upon a cure: I bought a windurfer and
became so addicted to the sport that rough seas now make me eager to get
out on my board and play in the waves! I haven't been seasick since '84;
instead of dreading rough weather I think of how much fun it would be to
get out there and sail. On boats I still make a point of staying outside
for the fresh air and a view of the horizon, but my previous affliction
is gone. It was an expensive cure, but it's drug-free and much more fun
than choking down a pill!
