There was still a pretty stiff (30kt) breeze and heavy thunder showers
all day. Harry Nehls and I sat through a shower at SJCR this afternoon.
A 9 foot high tide still had the ponds filled to overflowing well after
the high tide. There were still at least 500 gulls including at least
2 SABINE'S GULLS, many BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES and 4 PARASITIC JAEGERS.
The same numbers (same flock?) of small _Sterna_ terns was in and out
as well.

Shorebirds were scarce, but 2 WHIMBREL, 7 BLACK TURNSTONES, a SURFBIRD,
2 DUNLIN (first of the season for me), a PECTORAL SANDPIPER, a WESTERN
SANDPIPER and many RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were seen.
