Rick,

The Hudsonian Godwits were not present last Sunday, Sept. 14 at 5:30.
The tide was very high, over 8', and what beach there was had hundreds
of Wigeons, Green Winged Teals, Mallards and Pintails crowding and
bickering with each other.

I did see the two Hudsonian Godwits on Friday, Sept 12 around 4pm, (high
tide 7.5 feet.) The bickering for beach space proved advantageous, as a
Mallard snapped at one of the Godwits, it raised its wings to move over,
and I got a good look at the underwings.

Good birding. I visited Iona for the first time recently. Be sure to
take water if you are planning to walk the south jetty. It's a looong
walk, but worth it if you get to see the Common Eider.
