Tweets,
Ocean Shores was dead but not without suprises, and I do mean suprises!
Interesting birds were an Osprey by the Cement Water Tower, two merlins;
one at Bowerman, one at Damon Pt. Bills Spit had when I left at 4:30, 38
Long-billed Curlew and 13 Marbled Godwit. There were 3 Spotted Sandpipers
at the Marina. I had my first Laplnd LOngspurs of the year at the Hoquaim
Sewage Ponds, there were 6 or 7, all winter females. Now for the big
suprise at least to me, when I was watching the longspurs, I heard Cranes
overhead. I turned and flying about 100 feet above me, were 34 Sandhill
CRanes. I talked to another birder I knew that was down there yesterday
and he said they had stopped at Lake Aberdeen and had 25 Cranes there
yesterday morning. Is this a fluke, or a migration route that isn't
publized alot. Anybody know?
The Cattle Egret as Ruth mentioned was also there yesterday evening.
Good birding,

Scott Downes
