Janet,
Actually Park personel has told me that hunting dogs are allowed on
the island during hunting season but only on the north end and then
strictly on a leash when walking from the South end to the North end.
Dogs should not be allow during the off hunting season. I have seen
hunters using dogs ever since the park opened. I would like to
understand the full policy though because whenever I see someone with a
dog on the island and it is not during hunting season, I say something
to them. I think the couple who said their dog was a hunting dog and
thus allowed at any time are just trying to get past the rules.
