Hi Scott

I'm no expert on Anna's, but last year we had one over-winter at our
Seattle home (Ballard neighborhood). I had no hummingbirds during the
summer (for reasons that continue to baffle me), but a female Anna's
showed up in October. She stayed through until March.

I did have a feeder up for her. I even constructed a make-shift roof
over the feeder so she could get to the nectar during the BIG SNOW of
1996 (she was feeding through the drifts that collected on top of the
feeder before I installed the roof.) She visited the feeder regularly in
the morning and the evening so she seemed to have a territorial pattern
established.

I would guess she was not raised near here as I never saw any other
Anna's during the summer.

I'm watching again this year to see if an Anna's shows up again.
