They're certainly everywhere in the St. Louis and Ozark areas. Some people
seem to attract them more than others. Some of our friends were ardent
bird watchers, and for some reason, Bob was the main target of every biting
bug. He also liked to forge ahead in front of everbody. He'd attract
every hungry bug within jumping range and anyone following in his trail got
of nearly scott free. This didn't work if he went behind; in that case
everyone collected bites. I don't know if he ever did figure out why
everyone was always willing to let him go first :-)
