This is Dale Goble with a very short bird hotline for northern Idaho /
eastern Washington / northeastern Oregon.

On Saturday September 20th, Dan and Ila Svingen found Mann Lake
nearly deserted. There were no shorebirds at the lake. There were
EARED, HORNED, and WESTERN GREBES and AMERICAN PIPPITS.
The best birds, however, were two juvenile SABINE GULLS on the
Snake River between Kiwanis Park pond and the blue bridge between
Lewiston and Clarkston. The Svingens watched the birds for more
than 2 hours.

Also on the 20th, I walked into Widow Peak from Freezeout Saddle
east of Clarkia Idaho. The only noteworthy sighting were several large
flocks of AMERICAN PIPPITS.

good birding.
