Wow!...I'm just tickled at the response for homemade suet....judgeing by
the response (and flooded mail requests)*S* I give you :

Homemade Suet:

1 Cup peanut butter (crunchy or smooth / generic is fine)
2 Cups "Quick cook" oats
2 Cups corn meal (I use yellow)
1 Cup Lard (do not substitue this)
1 Cup white flour
1/3 Cup sugar

Melt lard and peanut butter in microwave til liquid, stir in remaining
ingredients. Pour into long square dish (pyrex works great) PAM IT to keep
it from sticking!. Cool in freezer or refrigerator for a few minutes to
harden (solidify). Cut into squares to fit suet feeder and wrap squares
individualy in plastic wrap. Store in freezer until needed. It is advisable
to double this batch because they eat it so quickly. This suet can be used
all seasons because it does not turn rancid. All the birds love it,
including cardnials, and other ground feeding birds that normally don't
bother.

Note: all ingredients can be substituted except Lard. I substitute 1/2 cup
of one thing and add 1/2 cup of something else for variety.
you can add bird seed, dry cereal such as rice crispies ect..., cornbread
(fresh or leftover). Experiment with stuff in the kitchen than needs
tossing out. Just remember certain things will attract Starlings ect....but
if you make your suet feeder a bottom feeder you can deter them..........

**Also......for those of you who shop at "Wild Birds Unlimited", you can go
to this site and print out a coupon from them to receive 2 lbs of "Premium"
Bird seed. The offer ends 10/31/97
