Ryan,
The Everett STP are open on the weekdays for birders. You need to go
into the main office across the street. Talk to Katie the receptionist
and fill out a permit. If you are going on a weekend I recommend you
give them a call. The phone number for the office is now (425)
257-8220. (This number is new and so some of your literature may have it
incorrect.) They generally only have one or two attendants on the
weekends and it is sometimes hard to find them to open the gate. Its a
good idea to let them know you are coming.
As of today, the 30th of September, the road on the West side of the
ponds is closed to birders because of possible construction trucks but
access south and East is open making it still a worthwhile trip.
Spencer Island is a great place to bird. The South end and the cross
dike are especially good. You also might try the Everett Waterfront off
of West Marine View Drive. There are various small pull outs, the
Everett Boat Launch area and also the Everett Marina area give good
access. Any questions you can email me.
