Hi Tweets,

Due to the recent spate of spams I've just configured Tweeters to
SEND-BY-SUBSCRIBERS. Hopefully this will reduce those unwanted, intrusive
postings. I've also configured Tweeters so that "bounced messages" or
attempted postings from non-subscribers will come to me and Steve
Hallstrom, so that one of us can forward those messages to the list.

Some of you are non-subscribers who like to post to Tweeters occasionally,
and read it via the Web. The solution for you is to subscribe, and after
sending back the confirming cookie#, set tweeters mail postpone. Then you
can still post to Tweeters, but not receive Tweeter's postings.

Below I'm attaching subscription information. I hope you'll all bear with
me regarding these changes.

Thanks,

Dan Victor, Seattle, WA <dvictor at u.washington.edu>

===============
To subscribe to tweeters send an email message to:
listproc at u.washington.edu
where the first line of the message text reads:
-----------------------------------

sub tweeters Your Name

------------------------------------
Do not enter your email address. The listprocessor will read where the
message is coming from to obtain your email address.

To confirm your subscription merely *reply* to the cookie# confirmation
request which will be sent to you by the listprocessor.

*After* subscribing you may wish to set the digest mode since tweeters is
a very active list. In the digest mode you would receive all the day's
postings in one large digest message which comes the next morning. To set
this mode, *after confirming* your subscription, send the
listproc at u.washington.edu the message text:

set tweeters mail digest

Should you have further questions or problems with the listprocessor please
email me *personally* at dvictor at u.washington.edu rather than posting your
listprocessor problems or questions to the entire list.

Other mail options you can send to: listproc at u.washington.edu

set tweeters mail postpone [you are subscribed but not receiving mail]

unsubscribe tweeters [removes your Tweeters subscription]

Should you *not* want to subscribe you can still read Tweeters on the Web
at: http://weber.u.washington.edu/~dvictor/digest.html

Thanks,

Dan Victor, Seattle, WA <dvictor at u.washington.edu>
