As many of you know, we offer a series of outings and workshops in
Okanogan County that are focused on natural history of the area. This
year, in addition to the traditional Thunder Mountain Fire activities,
we'll also have the following. Hope some of you can make it.

Sat., Sun., May 9, 10 Bird-a-Bot-a-Thon. Eastern Okanogan County. Leader
George Wooten, Mary Poss. The Okanogan Chapter of the Native Plant Society
and interested birders will get together for an earlier season return
visit of last year's trip to the sagebrush-steppe in eastern Okanogan
County. The agenda is similar to that of last year, which starts with
early morning birding at West Fork SanPoil River Campground at 8:00 am,
Saturday, then over the course of the day, driving & touring down the
Aeneas Valley Road as far as the junction with Highway 20.

On Sunday, we will head south on the Lyman Lake-Moses Meadow Road, then
vary last year's route by following route 155 east 3 miles to Kartar Creek
Road, which we will take south to Big Goose Lake and thence to
Wakefield-Cameron Road and the Duley Lakes area, to finish the day on the
flats at the mouth of the Okanogan River.

Camping on Saturday night (and for those desiring an early arrival, Friday
night) will be at Lyman Lake Campground. Saturday will be car-touring,
Sunday will involve an easy hike, thought expect chilly, windy weather in
the afternoons.
Contact me (mposs at umwashington.edu) or George (gwooten at methow.com) if you
would like to participate.

Additional workshops will be held July 17-22 (two workshops) on boreal
ecology in the Thunder Fire area and Sept 25-27. I'll post more
details on these later, but let me know if you are interested.
