Hi everyone! I'm from Oregon (on the OBOL list) and I'm planning a birding
trip to Costa Rica in November to celebrate my 50th birthday. I've never
been anywhere, really, just U.S., Canada, and Tijuana. So it sure would be
nice to have someone to go with so I'm not at all those airports alone. My
Spanish is very minimal, just a few words I know from living in Southern
California 25 years ago, so it all seems rather daunting.

I don't know if I can find a tour that's going at that time of year. It's
in the rainy season, so I think most tours go later, usually around
February. But I've already read two books that specifically recommend
November because (1) it's at the tail end of the rainy season, so everything
will still be lush & green, (2) since the rains will be tapering off, the
formerly impassable roads will now mostly be open, and (3) the onslaught of
tourists won't be there yet!

If anybody out there might be interested in linking up with me, please
respond privately to my e-mail address. The plans are still in the
formative stages, so we could plan it together. There is already a couple
here in Oregon that may be interested in coming along, although I haven't
met them yet. I don't want to spend a fortune - nothing fancy, just a nice
moderately priced trip of about 10 days would be fine. My birding ability
is about medium. I'm no expert, but I am enthusiastic! I've been a member
of Salem Audubon for 10 years (in case you want to check references :-)
