On March 21, Phil Bartley found a BARN OWL, 2 TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES and a
FOX SPARROW near McNary Dam and 9 GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS in the cemetery
along 10th Avenue in Kennewick.

Ruth Fischer and Nancy LaFramboise birding in the Ringold area on March 24
discovered a GREAT EGRET (perched in a Great Blue Heron heronry), a PRAIRIE
FALCON, a CASPIAN TERN, and a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE.

Also on March 24, I (Bob Woodley) found an EARED GREBE plus 5 HORNED GREBES
off Columbia Point in Richland.

On March 25, Ruth Fischer and Nancy LaFramboise visited the ponds on either
side of Bunn Road, northeast of Prosser and found a TUNDRA SWAN, a pair of
CINNAMON TEAL, and a pair of BLACK-NECKED STILTS. The swan had been
present since March 13 and the Cinnamon Teal since March 22. I rechecked
the ponds on March 28 and again found the swan and teal, 3 BLACK-NECKED
STILTS, 2 COMMON SNIPE, and a lone NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW.

On March 30, Ruth Fischer and Nancy LaFramboise, and I found a TOWNSEND'S
SOLITAIRE along Yakima River Drive just upstream from Twin Bridges where a
Northern Mockingbird had been reported. (The mockingbird was not relocated.)

The following day, in WE Johnson Park in Richland, I observed a BARN OWL, a
pair of DOWNY WOODPECKERS, a LINCOLN'S SPARROW, and GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW
among the more common birds.

April Fool's Day provided Cecilia O'Shaughnessy with a pair of LONG-BILLED
CURLEWS which were flying south along Bombing Range Road in West Richland.

While near the Midway Power station near Vernita on April 1, Ruth Fischer,
Nancy LaFramboise and I saw CHUKARS, VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS, and a CANYON
WREN and found a single GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET at the Vernita Rest stop.
(The road past the power station remains gated, posted, and locked at this
time)

Lastly, today (4/2) along the Richland shore, I found 2 COMMON LOONS and 4
HORNED GREBES; 6 TREE SWALLOWS in Groves Park; and 3 AMERICAN AVOCETS, 4
GREATER YELLOWLEGS, and 27 DUNLIN on the Yakima Delta.

To report your own sightings, please give your name, phone number and
sightings after the tone. Thank you.
