NOTES: I arrived shortly after a heavy shower. The rock directly west
of the Ecola Lookout (Seal Rock) was covered with COMMON MURRES. The
majority of murres in the water were just off the Chapman Point Rocks
to the south. No birds were on the Chapman Point Rocks. At about 19min
into the watch a PEREGRINE buzzed Seal Rock scattering all the birds on
the upper tier. At about 25min a Coast Guard helicopter made a flyover
and about 1/3 of the remaining murres flew off.
The year's first BROWN PELICAN (an adult) flew past at about
10min and a group 5 BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES sat on the ocean for the
entire watch period.
