Steve and I visited Mann's Lake for the first time on Saturday. (For
some reason I was expecting more trees.) Any way, we got there about
11:00, there was a nice breeze, and lots of anglers. Most of the
birds were at the far end of the lake, and we used our scope from the
main parking lot.

We pulled up, and I said to Steve, "look, there's the Ross' Goose."
He looked at me like I was nuts, 'cause he couldn't see this white
bird anywhere. I suppose it was much closer to the boats than he
expected, swimming by itself not too far from shore, and we got some
great looks at it. (It was a lifer for Steve)

As I got out of the car to get a better look at the goose, I turned
and saw a Say's Phoebe behind us on the fence. It was surprisingly
tolerant and allowed me to take several pictures.

Overall it was a pretty good stop, and we found several new Idaho
birds, but scoping the active group from so far away made counting
very difficult.

EURASIAN WIGEON at least one, maybe three males, females?
Ruddy Duck three pairs
Scaup
Canada Goose 1, very small, sitting in nesting box
Many coots in the reeds
2 gulls, probably Ring-billed
Say's Phoebe
Downy Woodpecker (in the leafless tree not five feet from the car)
Western Meadowlark
heard a Killdeer

And, driving through Lewiston to get there, we saw about 20
yellow-bellied(?) marmots in Kiwanis Park. That was my first decent
look.
