Friday, April 10, 1998, 8:05 p.m. Here is a report received this
evening from Ruth and Patrick Sullivan, phone (253) 564-7419. On April
8, the TUFTED DUCK was seen near Burlington at the Green Road pond in
Skagit County. Two HARRIS' SPARROWS, one WHITE-THROATED SPARROW, two
WOOD DUCKS, a MERLIN and a BARN SWALLOW at the Skagit Wildlife
Recreation Area Headquarters near Conway. On April 9, one WILD TURKEY,
ten WOOD DUCKS, and good numbers of LEWIS' WOODPECKERS near Lyle, in
Klickitat County. On April 10, 38 GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS, 2 SAY'S
PHOEBES and 1 LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE at Maryhill Museum, also in Klickitat
County. Two HARRIS' SPARROWS and 15 TURKEY VULTURES at Maryhill State
Park, 2 LONG-BILLED CURLEWS near Dallesport, Klickitat County. One
ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD, 1 ACORN WOODPECKER, 2 BUSHTITS and 2 WESTERN
BLUEBIRDS near Lyle, and 2 CINNAMON TEAL at Steigerwald National
Wildlife Refuge in Clark County. Thank you. (this report was

April 17, 1998, Friday, 2:24 p.m. Michael Prevus (?) 623-7798. Took a
trip this morning to the Montlake Fill. I saw the GREATER WHITE-FRONTED
GOOSE which is lingering there as well as two CACKLING GEESE. Amongst
the other birds were a COMMON SNIPE sitting out in the open by a little
pond at the northeast end, a wandering LINCOLN'S SPARROW, the first BARN
SWALLOW I've seen this spring and over in the rather seepy area by the
gravel road that leads into the Fill, a calling VIRGINIA RAIL. Thanks,
