The Tualatin Riverkeepers is a citizen-based, non-profit organization. Our
mission is working to restore and protect Oregon's Tualatin River system.
The Tualatin Riverkeepers promotes watershed stewardship through public
education, public access, citizen involvement and advocacy.

The Community Organizer / Educator is a full-time position to implement the
Tualatin Watershed Citizen Stewardship Project. The project enables
Tualatin watershed citizens to effectively protect the Tualatin River, its
streams and tributaries, and adjacent wetlands, floodplains and riparian
zones. The goal is to educate and involve citizens and concerned groups in
(1) the key laws and regulations which impact watershed protection and
public health and (2) effective citizen participation in watershed
policy-making processes. The position is based in the TRK office
(Sherwood) and supervised by the Executive Director.

Principal Duties
Organize / support semi-annual Friends Forums.
Develop Citizen Stewardship Workbook (inc. Citizen Guides to Clean Water
Act, Endangered Species Act, and Metro Title 3).
Conduct "hands-on learning" field trips.
Train/support education teams to assist local citizens/groups.
Conduct community outreach (media, speakers bureau) on citizen role in
achieving a healthy watershed and reducing nonpoint source pollution.
Conduct research on watershed issues, develop policy proposals for action
by the Riverkeepers.
Serve as advocate & develop citizen support for the issue positions of
the Riverkeepers

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (science or environment related) required; Master's
Degree (sciences or public policy) desirable.
Experience working with the public and citizens from diverse backgrounds.
Experience working on river, watershed or environmental issues (minimum 3
years).
Commitment to environmental advocacy.

Salary Range: $27,000-$37,000 annual salary, plus 14% benefits package.
