Some signs of spring on the Palouse, all from Whitman Co, WA:

CANADA GOOSEF: As of Monday, April 20, still incubating a nest between the
two sewage ponds near the trailer court on Albion Road.

RED-TAILED HAWK: As of Monday, April 20, still incubating on a nest along
Albion Road.

SWAINSON'S HAWKS: Two were soaring above Shopko in Pullman on Satuday, April
18, around 1300 PDT. This was my second sighting.

MOURNING DOVES: Two nestlings about to fledged from a nest in the town of
Albion.

GREAT HORNED OWLS: Still attending to nestlings in a nest along Albion Road
as of Monday.

RED-NAPED SAPSUCKERS: A pair were courting at the Rose Creek Preserve on
Friday, April 17. They were the first ones I had seen this year.

VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS: Two were flying around buildings on the WSU campus
on Friday, April 17. On that same day, two were investigating a box along
the Rose Creek nest box trail.

BEWICKS WREN: On the Rose Creek Preserve, Friday, April 17, I observed one
wren carrying food to a nest (but I didn't see the nest). A second bird,
probably her mate, was scolding nearby.

WESTERN BLUEBIRDS: Several are building nests and laying eggs as of Friday
in nest boxes in the Rose Creek area.

MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS: A pair has been seen near one of the boxes on the Rose
Creek trail and, on Friday, there was a single egg in a nest box in their area.

AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES: Most of the males are all decked out in their summer
finery.

EVENING GROSBEAK: A lone female visited my feeder breifly on Saturday, April 18.

Still no hummingbirds but the feeder is up.
