I have the egg in front of me now. It is exactly 1 1/2 inches in length,
but I was really off on color. The more rounded end (about a fourth of
the egg) is more beige colored than off-white. But the rest of the egg
(the conical end) is more of a grayish color. It is covered all over by
spots up to an eighth of an inch in diameter and grey, black, or brown
in color. The egg DOES roll in a circle as was suggested by one
respondant.

Apparently, the birds WERE seen after all. The only description I was
provided with is "long legs and a long curved bill". No size or color at
this point. They were nesting in a rocky area behind a new house on
South Hill in Puyallup.
