April 20, 1998, Monday, 10:59 p.m. Hi, this Jim Flynn at (206)
772-5568. On Saturday, I did a field trip to San Juan Island with Bonny
Lew and Dave Dixon. At American Camp, at the read-out area, there was a
female MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD, which was our best bird of the trip. And then
yesterday, the 2 WHITE PELICANS were still present down at Bowerman
Basin. When the tide is out apparently they go elsewhere and I was told
that they were seen on the Hoquiam Sewage Ponds. But, they do come back
to the area apparently when the tide is in, and so they were present
there about 7:00 o'clock on Sunday evening. Thanks. Bye-Bye.

April 21, 1998, Tuesday, 11:45 a.m.. Hi, this is Steve Mlodinow. I
spent a couple hours today bopping around Everett and Edmonds. The pond
on Home Acres Road just south of U.S. 2, by about a half of mile to a
mile, it's on the left side of the road as you are heading south, I had
2 SOLITARY SANDPIPERS at it again. I can't explain where it was, where
they were Sunday when Greg and I missed them, but I presume it's the
same 2 birds that were there earlier. Also 6 LESSER YELLOWLEGS and a
BLACK DUCK were present at that same location. I had 2 EVENING
GROSBEAKS flying over Forest Park. It's the first I've seen of these
birds in the lowlands for 6 months or so. And, off Edmonds pier, the
best birds were a flock of Dall's porpoises. That's it.

April 21, 1998, Tuesday, 12:15 p.m. Hello, this is Russell Walland(?).
I went birding this morning at Montlake Fill with Mark Paston(?). We
saw the SORA which was present at the east side of the western most
grassy enclosed pond. And on the west side and sometimes to the north
of the central pond, we saw a male YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD. Other than
that, we also saw 3 SWALLOW species, GOLDFINCH, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT,
GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE and there were no shorebirds present.

April 21, 1998, Tuesday, 4:07 p.m. Hi, Scott Downes, 361-7073. Today
at Montlake Fill at 1:30, had one VESPER SPARROW to be found towards the
south side of the main pond. Just to the left of this there is a small,
scrubby area between in the southeast pond, the bird was in there
actually flying around. Watched it 'till at least 2:00 o'clock. Other
good birds present was one YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD and a pair of
CINNAMON TEAL on Shoveler Pond. That's it. Good luck and good birding.
