My first gold finch hit the feeder just a bit ago (6:30 pm). The golden
eagle put in a brief appearance today. I'm getting quite a few gold crown
and white crown sparrows now. I've still got a multitude of red-winged
blackbirds. I always thought they were solitary, but I've had a small flock
for several months now. I think the kestrel has taken the nest box, I see
the male clinging to the front of it and then climbing in. I seldom see him
flying off, but I hear him thoughout the day, but haven't seen the female
for a week or better. My mama mallard brought out 15 babies yesterday
evening, but it's quite apparent they aren't all mallards. Tomorrow I'm
heading over to Westport to go whale watching, and hope to hit Hoquim and
Bowerman Basin on the way back.
